Pre-Conference Networking Excursion 

 Kalmar Nyckel

Sail on the Kalmar Nyckel & Visit Historic New Castle Museums

Enjoy networking with other attendees on a trip to historic New Castle, Delaware. A two-hour sail on the Delaware River aboard the Kalmar Nyckel is a special opportunity. Attendees will also tour the Old Courthouse and Read House and take a short walking tour around the historic city. Lunch will be provided; breakfast is on your own.
NOTE: Due to space constraints on the Kalmar Nyckel, the first 98 registrants for this excursion will be confirmed; all others will be placed on a wait list or can elect to join for the museum and walking tour only.

Old Town Hall & Delaware History Museum

Old Town Hall & Delaware History Museum

NASBO and the Delaware Office of Management & Budget are pleased to host a welcome reception and dinner at historic Old Town Hall. Built in 1798 and styled after Philadelphia’s Congress Hall, this Federal-style structure served the city until 1916 hosting elections, town meetings, a subscription library, and criminal and civil trials. Attendees will also be able to tour the Delaware History Museum.

Wilmington & Western Railroad
Enjoy a scenic train ride through the Red Clay Valley on an historic 1929 Pullman Standard “Doodlebug” train car. The train will stop in Hockessin and lunch will be provided at the Backburner Restaurant. Guests will reboard the train for a return trip.

De.Co Food Hall

NASBO will host dinner for all attendees and guests at De.Co Food Hall, located in the Hotel Du Pont.

Networking Excursion

Winterthur

Winterthur Museum & Garden

Attendees and guests will have the chance to tour Henry Francis du Pont's home, galleries and gardens. Built in 1640, the museum holds more than 90,000 American decorative art objects and the 1,000 acre grounds include meadowlands, a fairy-tale garden, reflecting pools, and hundreds of trees, plants and flowers in bloom. Boxed lunches will be provided.

Wilmington Blue Rocks v. Greensboro Grasshoppers Baseball Game


All meeting attendees and guests can enjoy a casual night out watching the Wilmington Blue Rocks, the high-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals. Dinner will be provided.

Wednesday, July 19th

Guest Excursion

Nemours Estate & Delaware Art Museum

In the morning, guests will visit Nemours Estate to tour Alfred and Alicia DuPont’s late-18th-century French style mansion and then explore the largest formal French gardens in North America. 

In the afternoon, lunch will be provided at Kaffeina Café at the Delaware Art Museum and then guests will enjoy a guided tour of some of the museum's most popular art, including historical and contemporary American art, British Pre-Raphaelite art, and American illustration.

Gold Ballroom at the Hotel du Pont

NASBO will honor our 2023 national award winners and recognize the first-time women have held all three top leadership positions on NASBO’s Executive Committee. The Gold Room is the perfect setting for this event – opened in 1918, it highlights twenty famous women from history and literature popular at the time.
