The House and Senate both return to Washington next week and begin with a joint session for the 57th Presidential Inauguration Ceremony on Monday, January 21. President Obama will be publically sworn in for his second term at 11:30 AM Eastern on Monday. Legislative business will resume for both chambers on Tuesday, January 22. Next week, the Senate will likely take up the $50.5 billion supplemental appropriations bill for Hurricane Sandy (HR 152), which the House approved earlier this week. The House is slated to consider a short-term increase in the debt ceiling next week and also has a hearing on the debt limit scheduled on Tuesday.
