In a notice sent out yesterday, the Administration for Children and Families (ACF) at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) provided Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) grantees with an update on the impact of sequestration on program funding. The notice explains that the next award payments for fiscal 2013 will be reduced to comply with current funding levels and the requirements under the March 1, 2013 sequester. In the notice, ACF says that it is still awaiting information on final enacted budget amounts and sequester reductions for fiscal 2013. Once this information is received, ACF will notify grantees of the final LIHEAP award amounts.
