Rising Imports Drive Increase in U.S Trade Deficit in November

A joint report by the U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis and the U.S. Census Bureau released on January 11 reported that the overall U.S. trade deficit widened considerably from $42.1 billion in October (revised) to $48.7 billion in November – a 15.7 percent increase. U.S. exports rose slightly by $1.7 billion while imports increased significantly by $8.4 billion, therefore resulting in the roughly $6.6 billion increase in the trade deficit.
