President Obama Nominates New Cabinet Members




Today, President Obama announced three cabinet nominations for the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), Department of Energy (DOE), and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). The President has selected Sylvia Mathews Burwell as his nominee to head OMB. Ms. Burwell is currently serving as President of the Walmart Foundation and previously served as OMB Deputy Director during the Clinton Administration. President Obama announced Dr. Ernest J. Moniz, the Cecil and Ida Green Professor of Physics and Engineering Systems at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and Director of the MIT Energy Initiative and the MIT Laboratory for Energy and the Environment, to head DOE. Finally, the President has nominated Gina McCarthy, currently serving as Assistant Administrator for EPA’s Office of Air and Radiation, to lead EPA. All three positions are subject to Senate confirmation.
