New orders for manufactured durable goods were up 4.6 percent to $230.7 billion in December, according to an advance report on durable goods released by the U.S. Census Bureau today. Shipments of manufactured durable goods were also up – by 1.3 percent – compared to November, and unfilled orders were up slightly (by 0.8 percent) as well. Inventories were down $0.1 billion to $374.5 billion, essentially unchanged.
