New single-family homes were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 437,000 in January, 15.6 percent above the revised December rate and 28.9 percent above the January 2012 estimate, according to a report released jointly by the U.S. Census Bureau and U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development on February 26. The median sales price of new homes sold in January was $226,400, while the average sales price was $286,300.
