What is NASBO|Connects?

NASBO|Connects is a full-featured internet discussion forum promoting the exchange of ideas between NASBO members. NASBO|Connects allows you to post thoughts, questions, concerns, and issues in an online forum accessible to any member from anywhere. Our many topic areas help you find the information you're seeking quickly and easily. NASBO|Connects is a central source of information and discussion for our members, a hub of communication and a place to share promising and successful budget practices.

How do I get there?

To access NASBO|Connects, please visit http://www.nasbo.org/nasboconnects/. When you reach the NASBO|Connects page, look for the “Register” link in the top left corner. Please be aware that all new user registrations require the authorization of NASBO staff - this is to protect the confidentiality of the forum and ensure that only state budget employees have access to NASBO|Connects.

Who is it for?

NASBO|Connects is a resource for all state budget office staff. Moderated membership means only individuals currently working in a budget office are allowed access. NASBO staff also frequent the forum, posting information on upcoming meetings, training opportunities, conference calls, and current federal and national policy issues.

How do I know when someone has posted something?

NASBO|Connects can notify you whenever there is a new post in an area you are interested in. By subscribing to a forum, you will receive email notification any time there is new activity in that forum.

To subscribe to a forum, look for the "Subscribe Forum" link below the "New Topic" button. Clicking that will sign you up for instant email notification any time someone makes a new post!

Ok, I'm registered. Now what?

Once you've registered, a NASBO Staff Member will have to authorize your membership. The wait won't be long - less than an hour in most cases. After you have been approved, it's time to log in and start posting! The "Login" link in the top left corner will allow you to enter NASBO|Connects and view all the topic areas and posts.

Here are a few startup tips:

To enter a forum, click on the title of the forum.
To read a post, click on its title.
To start a new post, click the button labeled "New Topic"
The "Post Reply" button will allow you to post a reply within the active topic.
At the bottom of a post, you will see a "Quote" button. This allows you to quote the original post in your reply (much like when replying to an email).
To get back to the main forum listing, click the NASBO|Connects logo at the top of your screen.
When you're finished, remember to Log Out
