Michael Streepey is a Fiscal Policy Analyst with the National Association of State Budget Officers (NASBO) in Washington, D.C. In this role, Streepey is responsible for monitoring and analyzing state fiscal trends and is the author of the biannual Fiscal Survey of States. He is also responsible for tracking and reporting on state developments in policy areas concerning debt and borrowing, public employee retirement systems and pension plans, corrections, and capital budgeting processes. He has written issue briefs on a range of state fiscal issues including municipal bonds, public pensions, and remote sales tax collections.
Prior to joining NASBO, Streepey served as a paralegal, supporting a large team of trial attorneys practicing civil law. As a graduate assistant, Streepey designed and conducted a survey on fiscal impact statements for all 50 states. The data accompanies an article recently published in the journal, Public Budgeting and Finance. He has also interned with the Office of Management in Budget in the Office of Federal Procurement Policy. Streepey is a graduate of Indiana University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. He also holds a Master of Arts from the University of Kentucky, and a Master of Public Affairs from the School of Public and Environmental Affairs at Indiana University.
